A Glossary of Strabismus & Amblyopia
Strabismus: a condition in which the eyes are improperly aligned, deviated either inwards or outwards.
Amblyopia: poor vision in an otherwise normal eye, usually resulting from lack of transmission of visual stimulation through the optic nerve to the brain; commonly known as "lazy eye."
Esotropia: form of strabismus in which one eye crosses inwards toward the nose.
Exotropia: form of strabismus in which one eye drifts outwards toward the ears.
